Conservatoria del Piemonte, together the City of Torino and the Piemonte Region organise on february 1st in Torino an international Conference about street markets to study and discuss news solutions to improve the strenght and health of this important type of markets. The event takes place at Lingotto.  

The markets nowadays have an important role in the service provided to consumer. The range of choice, convenience and good value/price ratio have made a significant contribution to overcome the negative contingencies.

Moreover, the spread of farmers' markets and the possibility of buying local products that sometimes are difficult to find by the direct consumers, are giving a new impulse to this sale channel.

The Piedmont Region is organizing an international meeting on markets in which its evolutionary models will be compared and solutions for development will be addressed.

The meeting will take place in Turin - Centro Congressi Lingotto - February 1, 2010 from 9:30 am to 16:00.


International speakers

The Conference starts at 9'30h with a contribution from Torino's Mayor, Sergio Chiamparino, and representants from the Piedmont Regio, Mercedes Brasso and Luigi Sergio Ricca.

At 10.00h, a panel about how to set up a common regional policy for street markets will meet Patrizia Vernini and Alessandro Portinaro, from Conservatoria and one of the MedEmporion Project leaders.

After coffe, at 11.20h, experts from all around will discus some good international experiences on the promotion and development of street markets. Councillor Armelle Bonnet from Lyon, Levente Kiss from Budapest Central Market , Sarah Kudermann from Germany, Maria Budgen from London's Borough Market, Jordi Torrades from Mercats de Barcelona and Lucca Cianfriglia from Torino will share with the audience their best practice sat a local level.

After Lunch, and as closing, a round table will open the fllor to the pàrticipants with the coordination of Marco Cavaletto, regional Directpr for Commerce, Security and Local Police. Participants frtom different institutions like Conservatoria delle Cucine Mediterranee, Anva Confesercenti, Fiva Confcommercio, Fivag Clacs Cisl, Snadi Cisal and Uiltucs Uil will give their contribution.
